At Summit Academy, we believe access to quality education changes lives. We’ve designed our entire curriculum around the goal of getting scholars into college — and keeping them there. Our model creates alternate paths to higher education for every scholar, not just those with traditional academic profiles.
This sense of shared responsibility is a critical factor in maintaining world-class expectations for every scholar — regardless of race, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, or prior educational achievement.
Our funding comes from a mix of government agencies and private donors, so families never pay tuition. Every dollar goes toward giving scholars an extraordinary education.
Eligibility Requirements
Summit Academy is open to any New York State resident who meets our basic eligibility criteria. We welcome scholars of all backgrounds.
New York State Resident
You and your child must be New York State residents to apply to Summit Academy Charter School.
Grades 6–12
Summit Academy serves students entering grades 6 through 12. Middle and high school scholars are welcome.
No Prior Achievement Required
There are no academic prerequisites, entrance exams, or performance requirements. Summit Academy welcomes all scholars.

Applying to Summit Academy is quick and straightforward. Here’s what to expect from application through enrollment.
Submit Your Application
Fill out one application form per child you wish to enroll — it takes approximately 5 minutes.
Receive Eligibility Confirmation
Summit Academy will send you a confirmation notice that your application was received within 5 business days of submission.
Lottery Selection — April 8, 2026
On April 8, 2026, a lottery will be held to determine admission. Lottery preference is given to siblings of current scholars, children of staff, and applicants in the community school district.
Receive and Return Enrollment Packet
If selected, you will receive an enrollment packet to complete and return. Download the 2026 Enrollment Packet in English or Spanish below.

- Applications after April 3 go to the waitlist in order received
- One application per child — takes about 5 minutes
- Must be a New York State resident
- Confirmation sent within 5 business days
Lottery Preferences
Lottery preference is given in the following order:
- Siblings of current or accepted Summit Academy scholars
- Children of Summit Academy employees
- Applicants who reside within the Community School District of a school they’ve applied to
