Academics
Our Philosophy
Summit Academy Charter School brings rigorous, college-preparatory scholarship to Brooklyn’s most underserved communities within Community School District 15. We believe every scholar — regardless of zip code or background — deserves an education that prepares them to compete and succeed at the highest levels.
Our program is built on three pillars: a demanding Academic Program, intentional Character Development, and meaningful Community Leadership. Together, these form the foundation of a Summit scholar’s journey from 6th through 12th grade.
What Sets Us Apart
Eight pillars that define the Summit Academy difference.
Small Classes
Low student-to-teacher ratios ensure every scholar gets personalized attention.
Master Teachers
Experienced educators committed to academic excellence and scholar growth.
Family Involvement
We partner with families as essential members of our school community.
More Instructional Time
Scholars spend significantly more time in learning than peers at traditional schools.
Integrated 6-12
A seamless middle-to-high school pipeline ensures continuity of development.
Character Development
We build scholars of strong character alongside academic achievement.
High Expectations
We hold every scholar to the same high standards regardless of background.
Data-Driven
Continuous assessment allows us to tailor instruction to each scholar’s needs.
Middle School Foundation
Our middle school program lays the groundwork for college readiness years before high school begins. Scholars receive double the instructional time in core subjects compared to traditional public schools.
- 120 minutes of daily literacy AND math — twice the time of local schools
- Weekly college preparatory class beginning in 6th grade
- 8th graders take Regents-level courses: Algebra I, Living Environment, US History, and Spanish I
High School Foundation
Summit’s high school program is designed to open every door. Scholars build a college-ready transcript from day one, with access to advanced coursework and real college credit opportunities.
- 7+ AP courses available starting in 10th grade
- St. Francis College Bridge Program — scholars earn college credit in Algebra II while still in high school
- Build toward a college-ready transcript from day one
