Supporting Every Learner
English Language Services
Given the diverse demographics of our community, many Summit Academy teachers have English as a New Language (ENL) scholars in their classrooms. Support occurs either in a stand-alone setting or with traditional support from content teachers.
Our Approach
Stand-Alone ENL Class
Students work in language and literacy centers using a developmental framework, with leveled texts targeting each student’s specific proficiency level.
Content Integration
ENL specialists provide targeted support within regular content classes, helping scholars access grade-level material while developing language skills.
Differentiated Instruction
Teachers implement instructional modifications and support systems to develop language skills while scholars access the full Summit curriculum.
Building Language Skills Together
English language learners receive instructional modifications and support systems to develop language skills and access Summit’s curriculum. Modifying instruction for ENL scholars is an extension of differentiated instruction — helping scholars build English speaking, writing, and reading skills.
